Weightloss Update March 2017!

Hi Everyone,

It’s been a little while since I posted on my blog, and I have a lot to update you on.

I now do CrossFit. Yesterday I managed to complete an entire CrossFit workout!! Admittedly it was the Over 55’s Scaled (easy) workout, which means i’m roughly as in shape as an out of shape 55 year old is… but I finished!!! Gotta take your wins when you can, right?

Tomorrow morning I have my first swimming lesson! Exciting times! I would like to one day run an Ironman, but i’m assuming it’ll be pretty difficult to swim 2.4 miles when you can’t actually swim. Lol!

For those of you that don’t know, an Ironman Triathlon is a swim, a 112 mile bike ride then a 26.2 mile run. Below the Ironman, the triathlons in terms of distances are:

  • Half-Ironman;
  • Olympic Triathlon;
  • Sprint Triathlon.

The Sprint Triathlon is a 750 meter swim, a 20km bike ride then a 5km run. I completely understand that I need to take small steps first, and therefore I am currently in training for a sprint triathlon.

My weekly workout schedule is currently:

Monday: CrossFit
Tuesday: HIIT Bike workout (45mins)
Wednesday: CrossFit
Thursday: Running (Sprint and Hills – Treadmill)
Friday: CrossFit
Saturday: Brick (20km bike then 5km run)
Sunday: Rest.

Yep! I do the full sprint distances for biking and running once a week.

So, why am I struggling to lose weight?

Diet!

Guys, do you know how important your diet is? Seriously, like, I had absolutely no idea! You’re reading the blog of a guy who does 3 CrossFit workouts a week and 3 cardio workouts… and still can’t lose weight! Nuts, right!

Perry, my CrossFit instructor told me to cut out alcohol, sweets and refined carbs. I managed it for a month, and lost 10lbs but then I got Vertigo – I basically felt dizzy all day. It wasn’t cutting out the sweets and carbs etc, it was the fact that at the same time I was doing lots of workouts and as well as cutting down the list of things I was eating, also cut down the size of the meals – I basically messed up.

During the Vertigo period, whilst waiting for my tests to come back, I put on 15lbs. 15lbs in two weeks. Seriously… I put on weight far too quick! Anyway, when the results came in I was told that I needed to eat more. And in order to make sure I eat enough, but not too much I have to track my food!

I HATE tracking my food! I tried it when I went to WeightWatchers but I just couldn’t get on it at all. Well, now I have to! And it sucks because I honestly can’t be bothered to sit and weigh / measure everything I eat!

But i’ll give it a shot. I promised one of the women at CrossFit i’d track for atleast a week and see how I get on.

Anyway, long post so i’ll wrap it up.
